Welcome to Jungle Base Camp at Bardia National park, the largest nature reserve in lowland Terai region of Nepal Bardia is widely acknowledged as the best place in Asia to see a fantastic range of wildlife including Gangetic freshwater dolphins, Royal Bengal Tigers, rhinos, wild elephants, crocodiles and over 400 species of birds. It is maybe the only place in the world where you can see freshwater dolphins and tigers, in their natural habitat, on the same day!

Rates for activities

Jungle Base Camp can organise a wide range of activities for your stay in Bardia including:

  • Full Day Jungle Walk:  $45 USD (including park entrance fee and lunch) 

Starting early in the morning you'll walk through open grassland and dense forest, deep into the jungle, always on the lookout for a glimpse of the Royal Bengal Tiger.





  • Jeep Safari:   $65 USD per person minimum 3 people (including park entrance fee)

 The Jeep Safari is a very popular choice where you will cover a bigger part of the National park from the comfort of your seat and with a fresh breeze around your nose.






  • Elephant Safari:   $45 USD per hour (excluding the $12 park entrance fee) 

You go deep into the jungle on the back of an Elephant and you'll have good chances to see lots of animals.


  



  • Rafting on the Karnali River:  $75 USD per person minimum 3 people (including park entrance fee)

Also a popular choice is the one day wildlife Raft on the Karnali River inside the National park. It  gives you very good chances to see Mugger and Gharial crocodiles, Water Birds and a great variety of fish.




  •  Camping:  in community forest $185 USD per person / inside National park $230 USD per person minimum two people

Camping in the forest around a campfire to get a chance to experience the jungle at first hand.





  •  Dolphin watching:  $45 USD per person

Between 2-3 hours drive from the lodge, at the banks of the Karnali River, you'll be able to watch rare Gangetic River Dolphins play in the water.





  •  Tharu Village Tours:  $7 USD per person

Visit a Tharu village and immerse in a foreign culture, see their traditional houses and be spoiled by their local specialties of drinks and food.





  • Culture Dance Program: $45 USD per event
Watch the Tharu people with their cheerful cultural dance program and let yourself be carried away by their enthusiastic appearance.





  • Birdwatching:  $8 per person
From the nimble Purple Sunbird to the majestic Serpant Eagle, this program offers all a bird watchers heart could desire.





  • River Fishing:  $85 per person
A full day at the river with packed lunch and a professional guide
